Summer trip

I have decided that come the summer this year, I am actually going to do something with my time — in an ideal world I would love to go traveling around Australia or some other far flung exotic place, but you know, lack of funds pretty much cancel that idea out right away.

There is nothing to stop me going on a mini adventure around the UK though. Aside from being fun on it’s own it will help me learn to use public transport more than I already do — I hate public transport, but I don’t drive so it’s a neccesary evil.

I would love to head up to Scotland first to visit some of the places I used to as a teen, then across to Wales to take in the valleys, then back across the country to Northumbria and finally down to Cornwall.

I have seen some gorgeous northumberland cottages in the brochure I use for booking my self catering holidays in the UK — I’d love to be able to stay in one, even if only for a few days so I can take in some of the sights. There are lots of lighthouses in the area that I would love to see, I have always been a fan of lighthouses :)

This year, I am doing it!

The Biggest Loser Premiere

The Biggest LoserI finally got around to watching the new season of The Biggest Loser USA kick off over the weekend.

I have to say I almost turned it off right at the beginning when Bob and Jill were doing their little piece to camera, angry Bob and Jill telling you to get off your arse and do something and to look at the state of America — no thanks. I take the inspiration from the show off my own back, I don’t need it shoving down my throat.

As for the contestants, hard to say what they are going to be like this early on but there’s no one who instantly stands out to me as one to watch — I had both Vicky and Heba pegged as the bitches of the season within the first episode last season.

Now, I have watched a lot of reality TV…and I mean a lot…and I am usually immune to the cruelty of a lot of the twists and turns these games throw at people. But even I thought that sending one of the pair home after the very first week was too much — I mean really, they applied to be on the show together and those poor people who thought they were in the game only to find out they aren’t? Aww, poor sausages.

Bad TBL producers, bad.

In the News Today…

Prince HarryI am a big fan of the news, I don’t feel like my day is complete without having read or heard the news at least once.

I tend to listen to Radio 1 during the day and they have a news bulletin every 30 minutes, so I generally get my fix from that — but I also follow news online and even via twitter.

I am currently following the story in the UK about Prince Harry having used racist language and the furore that has followed — typical UK, we love a good scandal over the silliest of things. The world has gone PC mad!

I read online news articles all the time and I like to use many different sources. I tend to stick with the BBC as I just find them to be the most reliable and no bias — and I avoid trashy tabloids such as The Daily Star like the plague, I can’t believe that any one takes those papers seriously.

I think the worst one though is the Daily Mail, at least The Daily Star doesn’t pretend to be a serious and intelligent paper — The Daily Mail is full of sensationalist nonsense and takes itself far too seriously.

Now, time for me to go listen to News Beat :)
