Happy days, oh happy days.
I just booked a short break to Liverpool for December, Christmas shopping here I come. The best part, it cost £1 – yes £1! Free parking, free wifi access and a 10 minute walk from the town center.
Of course I would prefer to stay in some gorgeous vacation rental homes in exotic locations like Fiji or Jamaica – but there’s a slight difference in price, £1 and a 20 mile drive up the motorway to Liverpool vs £100s on accomodation and flights to Jamaica.
Bit of a no brainer really isn’t it?
Now I just have to hope I didn’t book for an important TV date, knowing me and my luck it’s probably the weekend of The X Factor finale!

Being a former smoker myself I have mixed views on smoking in public places as I can see it from both sides – non smokers don’t want to smell of cigarettes and get harmful toxins in them from passive smoking, and smokers wants to be able to have the freedom to do what they chose with their own bodies whenever they like.
In the USA although most states have public smoking bans, most casinos still allow it – but that is now posing problems, I was reading an article earlier about the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas which is actually being sued by it’s own employees for exposing them to second hand smoke. As a result a lot of other casinos are now changing and banning smoking.
I suppose one of the advantages of playing casino games in the comfort of your own home via the Internet is that you can do whatever you like – whether than be smoking a cigarette or wearing only your underwear. But it’s not quite the same is it? In the same way sitting drinking alcohol on your own isn’t the same as actually going to a bar. Interacting with people and soaking up the atmosphere is all part of the experience.
Overall I have a ‘live and let live’ attitude and don’t like the idea of banning anyone from doing anything – but when health is involved I can’t help but side with those who want the right not to have what is a filthy habit forced upon them if they like it or not!
