Be a Dirt Devil

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Dirt Devil. All opinions are 100% mine.

2009dirtdevilguide_250x250When you are considering what gift to give someone for Christmas perhaps a vacuum cleaner isn’t going to be the first thing that comes to most peoples minds. But the simply fact is people need new vacuums and Christmas is as good a time as any to get one.

If you’re anything like me you will love getting a good bargain, nothing quite beats that feeling of doing your research and deciding which item you want – then finding out how much less you can get it for.

Dirt Devil have created a super useful online shopping shortcuts that proved to be an interesting read. As a hardcore online bargain hunter I thought I already knew all there was to know – I already search for coupons, I use cashback sites and I know all the best price comparison sites. But a few of the tips were useful for me and things I had not previously considered – they have links to some great resources too, including websites that collaborate the best black Friday and cyber Monday deals and sites that list discount coupons and the list of abbreviations often used in the shopping and bargain world was especially useful.

The most Amazing Racers are….

…that couple, erm…thingy, Shane or something.

meghanYeah OK so they were a pretty boring couple as far as reality contestants go, but they were nice enough and I think very much the most deserved winners. Going into the episode I wasn’t at all sure who I wanted to win but suspected that Brian and Ericka had been given the winners edit – so when it was mentioned again at the start of the episode that they had never won a leg and they got an early lead I thought that was that.

When Ericka reminded me why I disliked her earlier on during the bouncy bouncy grab the flowers challenge I decided I really didn’t want them to win and when Meghan and Cheyne ended up behind because no one seemed to know which hotel they needed to be at I thought how unfair it would be if they lost because of that and realised I really was rooting for them.

Overall a pretty good season but definitely not a classic or all time favourite.

I hear that Jeff and Jordan of BB romance/he handed her the win fame will be racing on the next season – I wonder how true that is, it seemed like for a while every season there were rumours Janelle and Dr Will were racing and it never happened.

I feel as though I have been throttled…

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.

…oh, that’s because I have.

My lovely Internet provider has started traffic shaping at peak times, they started a week ago and so far peak times = 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Yeah, that’s real useful to me. Don’t they know I have movies and TV shows I need to watch, I can’t stream anything at these speeds! I have been doing speed tests throughout the week and at certain points over the weekend my speeds were slower than when I was on dial up – dial up! Remember that?

OndemandI wish I could get Charter Digital where I am – with their service you can get On Demand, absolutely free. That’s free TV and movies when-the-heck-ever you feel like watching it.

You can learn more at charter.net/ondemand and if you are interested you can get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page.

Over the last few years I have switched more and more to on demand services and watching shows on my computer to the point that if I no longer had a TV I really don’t think I would miss it all that much. Until of course my Internet provider start messing around with my speeds – the irony being I pay for a premium service from them and they have chosen us to test out this new traffic shaping on, rather than the regular users.

Hrumph.

The Restaurant

the-restaurantI’ve never seen anything like the current series of The Restaurant – the final three teams are truly atrocious, they are the sort of people that are there to be laughed at and go out early in most reality shows. Not make it to the finales.

Let’s take a look at them and what they have to offer.

There’s Stephen and Rebecca – they only seem to know how to cook basic food, their restaurant is called ‘The Front Room’ so it’s hard to argue they think they are better than they are. But this week having been told to step up their game and become more fine dining they offered up….Lasagna and Shepard’s Pie. Hmm.
Rebecca has the personality for front of house and seems to be good with people, but she’s totally ignorant to the kind of food Raymond works with – I can’t forget the way she excited picked up a strange and exotic looking fruit and asked wide eyed what it was – it was a pear.

Next is JJ and James – the one who does front of house is OK, nothing brilliant but he’s certainly capable. The one who is the chef…doesn’t cook. He’s a chef, that doesn’t cook. Need I go on?

Finally we have Nathan and Chris – Chris is a good chef, he always seems calm and in control and has been praised by Raymond. Nathan, he’s like a petulant teenager and not at all suitable for front of house. He has a stinking attitude and is about as lazy as they come.

The only team this entire season that I thought were half decent was Bodger and Badger (or whatever they were called) and they quit because one of them had been so institutionalised by the army that he simply couldn’t handle being away – I thought the army was supposed to make people tough, not turn them into pussies!

Overall, very disappointing bunch and I can’t imagine how any of them will survive once they get an actual restaurant to play with!
