It’s always got on my nerves that people in the show say it in way that it seems like they are the first – before Ali won it was always:

“I want to be the first ever female biggest loser!”

After she won it was always:

“It’s great that a woman has finally won it!”

The Australian and US shows are both as guilty of it but although it annoyed me it was pretty easy to brush off safe in the knowledge they probably meant “…in the USA/Australian version” but just didn’t feel it necessary to add that part every time.

So colour me shocked and super annoyed when during the Biggest Loser Where Are They Now special that I only just got around to watching, Ali Vincent says:

“I am the first female biggest loser in the world. Period”

What? does she actually think that? Like really? Why has no one told her that she was beaten to it by the UKs Jodie Pregner way back in 2006? Why would she just assume it to be true – surely if you are going to go around saying something like that you’d at least check it’s accurate first.

The mind boggles and I hope someone has at least now set her straight.

I was at the store earlier and got a phone call from my dad asking me to pick him up some hex caps and hex cap screws for a project he’s working on out in his shed (his favourite place in the world!). I said sure thing and hung up and then realised I don’t have a blue clue what exactly hex caps are – I had to call him back and ask him what department they were likely to be in!

They are basically very strong fasteners for us in construction!

I am taking them round to him this evening and I will be asking him what on earth he needs them for, I can’t imagine what he’s building in that little shed of his that means he require super strength ones!

From the very first episode up until the last they proved they couldn’t cook and I kept thinking that this week would be their week to go. It seemed like they were the ‘comedy’ couple who were being kept around because watching their total incompetence was amusing.

In the final challenge they messed up 3 out of 3 meals that they served – the risotto was more like rice pudding, the beef was thrown in the over for 5 seconds before being sent out and the souffle – well the souffle turned into a cocktail and jelly because they couldn’t even get it out.

Ultimately they won, despite being totally unable to even do basic cooking, because their concept was better – is this the picnic concept? The one that the judges all mocked earlier on? Because somewhere in the justification for them winning it seemed to morph into being about cocktails – cocktails was never their concept, it was what they were good at – but picnic food was their concept.

Heck what was the point in all the cooking challenges throughout the series, if ultimately not being able to cook didn’t matter and it was all about concept?

Honestly, I am aghast – Raymond, Sarah and David – hang your heads in shame!

I’ve had a busy old week this week so have not had time to wax lyrical about my favourite shows – though of course I have still found time to watch them.

So Danny won The Biggest Loser, I thought Rudy had it in the bag so good on him – interestingly though according to his BMI he’s still in the overweight category (just) – in fact all of them except for Tracey and Rebecca are!

Ally was voted out of Strictly Come Dancing which makes me sad, I have not been that into this series but I thought she was lovely and for a few weeks at least she’s been the only one still in it that has kept me watching. I really don’t see the appeal of Chris – I find Ricky dull but at least understand he can dance well, Chris is dull and dances poorly – their popularity confuses me. I probably wont watch the final.

Joe won The X Factor, very predictable. I fear he’s going to be another Leon/Steve/Shayne – notice a pattern there? All guys who sing mainly ballads. There’s no doubt Joe can sing and is a nice guy but there’s nothing special or interesting or unique about him – I suspect he’ll have a couple of big hits, a semi decent first album and then we’ll never hear from him again!

I have always said that I don’t really think diet pills are the right way to go, shows like The Biggest Loser prove it can be done without them – but if you are going to use them you are better off knowing which ones to spend your money on. I need to go to the shops one night after work and get some new furnace filters, how very boring – but we need them and the place we get them from is not open on weekends. I really should look online actually, it’s a while since I checked and there may be somewhere that sells the ones we need by now. I hope so, I’d rather not spend my evenings shopping for furnace filters!

I am just working my way through The Biggest Loser finale that aired on Tuesday night and have got as far as seeing who won the at home prize – I really didn’t want Rebecca to win it, as I mentioned before I didn’t like her too much.

As she proved by winning it she was clearly extremely competitive, one of the most competitive there – yet whenever anyone else made a move to further themselves and not her she’d throw her toys out of the pram about it. I thought she had an awful attitude.

Still can’t take away from what she achieved, sans the haircut that ages her 20 years she is looking smoooookin’

Another surprise was Shay basically being handed $100k for no reason, I didn’t dislike Shay in any way, I just don’t see why the fact she was the heaviest ever should entitle her to this special treatment.

Now, let’s see who wins it – I think I am rooting for Rudy.
