Testing out wedding hair

I am heading to a Wedding Hair and Makeup Salon at the weekend – no, not for my wedding, we are no where near that stage in the planning yet. I am going with a friend who’s getting married at the end of August and wants to test out some styles before the big day, apparently I am being invited along because she knows I will be honest about things even if I don’t like them – I think that’s meant as a compliment ;)

Making use of wedding insurance comparison sites

So as you know by now I am planning on getting married in a few months time. My partner and I have been together for 7 years as of June 6th and we’ve been engaged for 4 years as of July 6th, so we really feel like now is the time to get on with it and get the big day planned – however unlike most couples these days we don’t want to spend a fortune on a big lavish event, we only want close friends and family there and we want to spend as little possible.

We originally budgeted for £1000, but slowly and surely realised how totally unrealistic that was even for a small wedding. All those little but essential things that you don’t even think about to begin with soon add up – like wedding insurance, that didn’t even cross my mind until I was reading a wedding plan checklist online.

Of course as with anything I purchase online I will be using a comparison site before purchasing my wedding insurance. I’ve already found some great rates via a wedding insurance comparison site a friend told me about but I am hoping to find a deal I can combine with a cashback offer so I am going to have to keep checking the wedding insurance comparison site and hoping I can get the two things to coincide – making for another killer wedding bargain to hopefully at least try to keep those costs down.

Weekend plans

We are going to pick up some faux wood blinds for the conservatory at the weekend and I can’t wait, we have needed some for a while but kept being lazy and not going to get them – my fiance likes to spend his weekends not doing much and I don’t blame him because he works hard – but this weekend we are moving our behinds and getting them :)

Men’s Vitamins

I don’t know anything about which are the best vitamins for men because, well because I am not a man – but my fiance is currently on a really big health kick and he’s asked me to find out which he should be taking in order to aid weight loss, muscle growth and just for general good health so that’s what I have spent most of my Saturday afternoon doing.

Memories of Birmingham

Talking about how my husband and I used to be in a long distance relationship reminded me of the coach journey I used to take once a month to go visit him – it was a 5.5 hour journey and I hated every second of it.

I get motion sickness so it’s not like I could just sit there and read, or play games or watch a movie so I had nothing to do but sit and look out of the window.

I remember the very first time I took the journey and as we were approaching Birmingham where I had a 30 minute stop over I saw the Bull Ring building in the distance for the first time – I had no idea it existed so I was in awe of it, at first I actually thought there was something wrong with it but eventually realised it was meant to be like that.

I desperately wanted to go see it up close, but I was so terrified that I literally didn’t move from the bus stop after getting off and waiting for the next coach to pick me up – I was sure if I went wandering I’d get lost and miss the connection!

As I got used to the journey I got braver of course and it wasn’t long before I had gone to see it. By the time I’d been doing the journey every month for 4 years I was amazed at how much I could fit into my 30 minutes in Birmingham – a trip to the bull ring, a toilet break, a coffee and snack in the cafe and a very quick browse around the shops and maybe if there was still some time left over a quick stop in the Quicksilver Games Arcade that is right next to the station.

I still hated the journey, but at least my little break in Birmingham was something to look forward to along the way!

It’s officially Christmas month!

Despite Christmas adverts airing on the telly since late November and countless emails from companies telling me that Christmas is almost here – I refuse to start my Christmas shopping until December, heck I refuse to even think about what to buy people until December nevermind actually go out and get it!

Well now I can start thinking about it and I have decided to reign in the spending this year, I usually go overboard and despite my bargain hunting skills I still usually spend a small fortune.

Bulova-Watch-Dress-96B001I may still splash out on my fiance and buy him a nice watch though, I was looking at Bulova chronograph watches on BlueDial.com earlier and I think they might be just the ticket – they have loads of brands and styles with upto 70% off usual retail prices. I think he’d really like the style and design of the Bulova Dress 96B001 watch and at that price it really wouldn’t break the bank.

I was supposed to be buying him a watch for his birthday back in July but never got around to picking one out for him – he ended up with a heart rate monitor and cheap summer coat instead!

So I am sure he would appreciate it :)

Ancient TV

bigstockphoto_old_tv_set_161433Would you believe that despite all the TV I watch I don’t have a massive big plasma TV, nope no plasma mounts needed for me – I still have my ancient old 17 inch beast of a thing, and I am quite happy with it. I don’t know if it’s my eyes or my brain, but I really can’t tell much difference between mine and my fiances HDTV that he always bangs on about being the best thing since sliced bread!

I love my old TV and I am sticking with it :)

Pyramids for my 30th birthday?

pyramids_egypt-300x225We’ve been considering heading to somewhere in Europe in March for my 30th birthday, maybe France, maybe Greece – but I was just looking at all inclusive Egypt trips and actually it works out just as cheap if not cheaper than staying in Europe.

I would much prefer that to be honest, it seems a lot more exotic and special to say you spent your 30th in Egypt than in Kos or Calais!

Egypt is becoming a really popular destination for us Brits because of the prices and the vast array of things to do there for tourists.

Now I just need to work on convincing my other half, he’s not really the adventurous type!

I’m not trying to change him, just make him better ;)

funny-tshirtWhen my fiance and I first started going out he wore offensive t shirts all the time, and when I say all the time I mean all the time. The first time he met my parents he was wearing a mildly offensive one and he wore them to work! Now I don’t mind a good funny/rude t shirt, I own many myself to be honest, but I think there’s a time and a place, right?

Thankfully after 6 and a half years together I have managed to talk him round a little bit, so he only wears them half the time now ;)
