So, my fiance went out and got us a new bed? Nice huh?
Well, no actually — I am always the one that decides on our decor and furniture…it’s a dangerous game him doing it.
His boss was selling it off cheap because they have another baby on the way so need to clear out the spare room and turn it into a nursery. Husband to be thought that it was such a good deal for a big expensive bed that it was worth the risk that I wouldn’t like it.
I suppose he’s right really, though he should know I generally don’t like divan beds. But I guess money is the most important thing when you are struggling in this economy as we are — not what it looks like. Plus it is super comfortable and easy to sleep on as it was a really expensive and high quality purchase originally.
Though if I did have my way I would have wanted a nice brown or black leather one — I just think they look so sexy and modern, whereas divans look old fashioned to me. Time4Sleep.co.uk have loads of leather beds that tickle my fancy and at really great prices too.
Oh well, nothing I can do about it now.

Watching shows like ‘Dream Homes’ makes me turn green with envy, to me that would be like the ultimate pleasure — having the money and time to be able to design, build and decorate a house to your exact desire — pure bliss.
I think that if we ever managed to fulfill that dream it would be due to a lottery win though, I think that at almost 30 years old we already know we won’t be earning enough to do it!
So come on, call out my lottery numbers please
If it did happen we would want a house with at least 4 bedrooms so that we’d have room when we decided to have children and there would always be the chance to have friends and family stay over. The other half would want a Golf Green out in the back garden as he really enjoys golf and finds it relaxing, he is pretty new to golf so doesn’t have great skills at the moment but has recently taken to heading to the local driving range after a hard week at work so he’s getting better. And I would want an indoor gym and swimming pool — so looks like we’d need a pretty big house!

…I love daytime trash TV!
Oh wait, that’s not much of a secret actually is it, I think if you’ve been reading this blog for a while you’d already know that
I love all the property shows though, the ones that cover both the UK and abroad are great and my absolute favourites are the ‘Home from Hell’ type shows where you see all the disastrous things that can happen to people’s property — bet they all wish they’d been in touch with maxim enterprises before every thing started going wrong for them but hey, hindsight is a wonderful thing isn’t it!

Like I don’t already spend enough time staring at the television screen or PC monitor, I will now be doing it twice as much — I just got the Sims 3 — lock up your Sim daughters as my characters are about to run amok
I am sure I am not unique in that I enjoy creating raucous characters with daft outfits and sending them on missions to break up couples or bring up messed up kids, am I? It’s totally normal, right?
I have only had a very brief go on it so far, mainly to go into buy mode and see what new objects they have. I love that you can buy transport and build garages now and there are also some old favourites that have been updated and returned like the metal swing sets and the pink flamingo that never seemed to serve any actual purpose in the first Sims game either!
I always build my houses a playground outside, with a flamingo, as many swings as I can fit in the space and now I can include a playhouse as that is another new available object. I don’t care if the family has children or is just two old fellas — every house needs a swing!
As a child I always wanted one myself but we didn’t have the room in our pokie old garden, so the swing sets were always my first port of call when we went to the park.
This post just reminded me that I need to get one bought for the new house, we’ve been here for 4 months now so it’s about time. I just had a quick look and SwingSetsDepot.com looks like a good place to get it from — they have a full range swings, sets and accessories and their prices on the full sets start at as little as $210 — I don’t care if my husband is 30 (Happy Birthday darling!
) and I am almost 30, we want swings!!

Rain Collection offer some really gorgeous and high quality pieces from top designers such as the devine Fringe vases from Fringe Studio. They have every thing for all of your home decoration needs. Seriously, take a look — they have gorgeous and unique items that any one would be pleased to have in their home. I love their Fringe Studio collection of vases and am tempted to buy a couple for my house!
What prompted me to write this, was watching Home Makeover Extreme Edition in the wee small hours of the morning last night, my delightful husband to be had fallen asleep on me on the sofa so I couldn’t move and had no choice but to watch whatever was on. I don’t usually watch the show, but am glad that I did because I just discovered a new time waster — it was a good hour, even if my arm was dead from having someones whole weight on it.
I always wanted to be an interior designer when I was a teen but never really went any where with it. Every time I watch a home makeover style show it reminds me of that and makes me wish that I had pursued it and wonder if I still could do now that I am pushing 30!

I was without my Direct TV for 6 whole days a few months ago, those were some dark days.
When you are moving you have 1001 things to think about and prepare, so making sure that getting my DirectTV package seamlessly moved without a break was one of the many things I didn’t consider until it was too late. I didn’t realise until we’d been in the new house for 2 days and I turned the TV on, then had to frantically search for Direct TV in Florida and sign up again.
So, don’t be a dummy like me…make sure that getting your cable set up/moved is one of the things on your todo when you are moving house

How do they do that, seriously? In 60 minutes they totally revamp at least a few rooms and they always look amazing. I know they have about 50 people shoved in there working on it but it never ceases to amaze and impress me. Plus it’s always a plus that the lovely Craig Phillips of Big Brother 1 UK fame is on there, with his sweet little face and chirpy Liverpudlian accent reminding me of the good old innocent reality TV days
The only problem I have with watching 60 minute makeover is that it always makes me want to makeover a room in my house, even though we redecorated when we moved in a few months ago — I still want to get new wallpaper and bedspreads and lighting and every thing else every time I watch it
If I ever won the lottery and became one of the idle rich I would so hire a design team and have my whole house completely redecorated at least once every 6 months, or if money was really no object then maybe once every 3 months. Oh I would do so much ridiculous stuff if I were rich enough, I would probably be one of the most annoying people in the world!

It always amazes me how fast people manage to move on soaps, when we moved at the start of this year it took a lot of time and effort to prepare — we hired movers, searched for budget van lines, dealt with solicitors and agents galore and generally killed ourselves along the way.
On the telly people decide they are going to move on Monday and are in their new gaff by Tuesday. Apparently soap characters don’t need to get a moving quote like the rest of us mere mortal types.
I suppose I shouldn’t complain though, let’s be honest it wouldn’t make for very interesting TV if they did show all that!

We’re getting the house double glazing sorted, hurrah! I can’t tell you how happy this makes me, for years my window has been a mess with moisture caught in between the two panes and we are finally going to get it redone meaning I get to actually see outside again
My nan recommended a double glazing stirling company she knows of called CentralScotlandJoinery.com and we are currently checking them out, along with a few other companies.
We will always take a personal recommendation above any advertising or the like we see, word of mouth really means a lot when it comes to things like this.
But we will see, we’re in no real rush to decide.
