Day of the Triffids

Please give me back my 3 hours.

Seriously, I don’t know why I went back for part 2 after finding part 1 pretty dismal. If I wasn’t unwell today and too lazy to find anything else to watch I definitely wouldn’t have seen it through until the end.

I didn’t understand Torrence’s role – I didn’t understand why he was on the plane, why he seemed to know what was going to happen with the blinding or what he was trying to achieve.

I didn’t understand why Mr Mainman (says a lot that I can’t even remember his name) hated his father and hadn’t spoken to him in years. I didn’t understand why those kids they found started calling them Mum and Dad after about 5 minutes.

I didn’t understand the solution – why did putting the poison in their eyes mean they got left alone? And what happened to the Triffids in the end? Did they get rid of them or did humans and Triffids start living together?

Ultimately – I guess I just couldn’t get into it because it’s hard to find a cute looking purple planet scary!

Load of bab.

Christmas Telly!

I’ve spent the last few days catching up on the Christmas TV – I hardly had the telly on at all over Christmas and Boxing Day so had lots, given how tired out I have been the last few days I am glad that I saved it all up, it’s been nice lounging around in my new jimjams :)

There didn’t seem to be that much great stuff on this year though – the soaps were depressing as usual. Does Eastenders really need another “whodoneit” storyline? Gavin and Stacey wasn’t even a Christmas special. I didn’t enjoy The Royal Family. I was glad that Ali won the Strictly Come Dancing special but again didn’t really enjoy watching it. The Doctor Who special was OK but reminded me why I only really watch it cos it’s on and not because I am obsessed about it like a lot of people seem to be – it wasn’t a patch on that one with the scary water people!

TV Catchup Night

Tonight I am going to watch so much TV my head may just explode a little.

There’s been a lot on UK TV recently and I have had a lot of work on, plus I have spent a lot of my spare time when I would usually be watching my downloaded shows playing a stupid game I got hooked on called Plants Vs Zombies. So I have got very behind.

As you can see, it is much needed:

towatch

I plan to watch at least a Desperate Housewives, Launch My Line, Dollhouse, Scrubs and the finale of Top Chef season 1 that I started watching back in August!

If I were a rich girl, na na na na na na na na na na naaa

1b_3981I just watched an old episode of The OC, from back when it was good and not the trash it soon turned into. Now I want to rush out and buy louis vuitton replica handbags so I can waltz around looking like a little rich girl as well.

Of course it would have to be a replica one and not a real one, aside from the fact I couldn’t afford a real one even if they were on special offer at 75% off – I wouldn’t want to, I am not a desinger name type of person, I have never seen the point in paying so much just for a name.

If I were an actual rich girl though I am sure I would change my mind about that ;)

Break in, BREAK IN!!

011810_home_securityIsn’t it funny how on TV shows such as Prison Break, 24 and Chuck even the most advanced Home Security Systems are taken out of action — if you believed every thing you see on the television you’d probably decide not to bother even having one!

You have eye recognition Home Security? Big whoop, according to Chuck a few episodes ago someone can just knock you out, photograph your eye, imprint it onto a contact lens and use that to gain entry.

Paid lots of money for the Best Home Security Surveillance System? Well that’s no good, according to Prison Break if you cause a distraction all cameras and security guys will focus on that, allowing you free run of the place.

My favourite was also in Prison Break, where they broke into a safe by simply drilling a hole into the lock.

I guess you have to forgive them, as they need to be able to do this for the plot to advance — there wouldn’t be much of a story if they couldn’t get somewhere they needed to be because they couldn’t break the security system. But it is amusing.

Thankfully actual effective home security systems do exist here in the real world like the ones from www.beachcitiesprotectiveservices.com :)

Vampires Rule OK!

28214VAMPIRESeems that everyone loves vampires these days, they seem to be ‘cool’ for some reason. There are so many TV shows and movies that feature and include them – but I have not seen any of them yet, I have the whole of The Vampire Diaries on my computer ready to watch and as much as I’ve heard about Twilight I have not really made any effort to see it. I am going to change that and get on board the 2009 vampire chat banndwagon.

Dexter Season 3

DEXTER (Season 2)I just tried to order Dexter Season 3 DVD from a retailer and I was floored that a message popped up to say that they didn’t accept credit card payments – what what? It’s almost 2010 and they don’t accept credit cards, are they living in the last decade? How can an online retailer like that survive in this economy? Needless to say I ordered it from somewhere else and I can’t wait to start watching it :)

Flash Forward

flash_forward-10I just watched the season premiere of Flash Forward last night, I think it was great but maybe a little over hyped? I was expecting more.

All I can say is that I hope that dude gets some addiction treatment and quick so that he doesn’t start drinking again and force his wife into the arms of the yummy Jack Davenport!

Though, who knows if the flash forwards even can be changed. They could be set in stone and no matter what people do their fate will still happen, or maybe they took into account that they all knew what was going to happen any way so the things they do to try and change the future only makes it happen.

How confusing, but I love a show that makes you think :)

He should get himself onto drugsno.com and see what they can do to help him, he could definitely benefit from them and their program which has a really good success rate, higher than a lot of other programs. The Narconon Drug Rehab Program concentrates on a slow, stable recovery and really makes it acheiveable. They don’t employ the well known 12 step program but have a great 76% success rate.

Not a Medical Show fan

b00m18bl_640_360You know one genre of television I have never had much of an interest in? Hospital related dramas – Holby, Casualty etc have never floated my boat for some reason. What do I care if there’s a panic on because they have run out of mediven compression stockings, like the ones available on DiscountSurgical.com?

As for the reality medical shows, don’t even get me started. My stomach cannot take watching real life surgery and blood and vomit. My other half likes to watch one called Bizarre ER and I have to leave the room whenever it’s on.

I did go through a stage of enjoying ER at some point in the late 1990s, but I admit that was mainly down to the overflow of extremely hot doctors, drool, but I have not watched it for many years now — didn’t it end recently infact?

The other exception would be Scrubs which I love, but that’s a comedy rather than a drama or reality.

If you need any discount medical supplies then check out the link I posted above, they sell loads of related products at really great prices. They only charge a few dollars for shipping and you can get their catalog mailed to you free :)
