Well done Michael

I wonder how many people are running out to buy the best weight loss products after watching the biggest loser finale last week? Some of the weight losses were amazing – but I do have to admit I wasn’t as in to this season as previous ones but I am not sure why. It’s also interesting to note that according to BMI both Michael and Ashley are still classed as obese – even Stephanie and Sunshine who looked smoking are still ‘overweight’, crazy isn’t it?

Another disapointing Survivor winner

A disappointing end to a good season for me. Again someone who sat on the sidelines walks away with the prize. As I have said countless times I know the way Sandra plays is valid, it’s won the game for her twice, it’s just not for me.

I found it quite bizarre that she highlighted at the final tribal council that her main strategy was to get Russell out, but she failed – why highlight that you had no power or sway in the game? I can only assume she was hoping to pick up anti Russell votes.

Russell blew the final tribal council no doubt (having said that does anyone really believe he’d have won if he’d pandered to the ‘oh I’m sorry, I regret everything I did’ nonsense that Danielle seemed to be trying to push him into? I’m kinda glad he stuck to his guns!) and I don’t feel like he was robbed this season as he was last one but I definitely think he and Parvati deserved it a lot more than Sandra as they both had control over the game for a large part of it where she had zero.

I don’t begrudge her the win this season but it pains me to think people are now considering her the best player of all time – we’ve had some real duds win the show over the years, winning doesn’t automatically mean you played the best game – she wouldn’t even make my personal top 10 list.

Some other thoughts I had while watching the episode…

What was with the long pause in the Colby confessional? It almost looked like the producers forgot to cut it – maybe they were trying to build up the ‘..but I’m not giving up yet’ but it seemed a little odd.

Are Jerri and Coach not engaged/an item then? I was looking forward to that announcement at reunion.

Boston Rob refusing to shake Russell’s hand was lame. Although they all apparently hate Russell they all seemed to be getting along and playing nice at the reunion. I think once the game is over it should be the end to any nastiness (unless something really major goes down).

Does anyone know who Amanda voted for to win?

Even I was surprised that Russell won fan fave again, thought his popularity had waned somewhat and that Rupert had it in the bag.

I was bemused when he said he knew he didn’t win Samoa I am still bemused. It was interesting to hear he did change tactics because of that though and took people he perceived as unlikable to the final with him.

I have not read the other replies yet but I can bet it will be brought up that Russell was dumb to underestimate Sandra and be so cocky he could beat her – so I;d like to point out that they ALL apparently thought the same thing. Colby said as much in his final TC (We all want to be sat next to Sandra at the end because we can beat her), so it was obviously a pretty common opinion.

I was surprised Russell didn’t take out Parvati at the end, everything seemed to be pointing to him doing so and it definitely made sense to my mind. Would Jerri really have won if she’d been there? Hmm.

Biggest mistake in the game it turns out was not knocking out Sandra instead of Courtney before the merge – although as someone said upthread she’d have probably found herself in the final as well for the same reasons as Sandra, not being seen as a threat for the challenges and having coasted along not being seen as a threat to win the prize.

Koli vs Stephanie – Now I see

So Sam was finally eliminated from The Biggest Loser, and about bloody time too. I don’t usually agree with the bigger contestants moaning about how they really need to be there more than any one else – Shay was especially annoying like this last season – but in this case I think it’s true that Sam didn’t need to be there any more, he was at his goal weight, happy and confident that he’d be able to keep it up on the outside and wasn’t even interested in trying to win the money. His time had come.

And at least we know Sam won’t be hitting the appetite suppressants, for the first time in the US version he hit his goal weight and actually isn’t trying to lose any more weight before finale – good for him.

The revelation about him and Stephanie at the end made the earlier seemingly random attack on Stephanie by Koli a lot clearer though – it seemed to come out of no where and be based on nothing at the time. Now it’s apparent that it was in some way related to her getting close to Sam – either simple and petty jealousy on his part, or perhaps if I am being more sympathetic Koli was just trying to protect Sam and make sure he wasn’t distracted.

Either way I had been going off Koli for a while but this episode confirmed him in my ‘dislike’ pile – the ‘Steph thing’ coupled with his arrogance about not needing the 1 pound advantage because he’s so awesome. No, sorry kid, waterloading the previous week because you had immunity does not make a 15 pound loss awesome – it’s just science. I have no qualms about people waterloading, it’s part of the game – but lets not pretend you did something special the following week when you drop a big number.

I didn’t like Masterclass

I didn’t enjoy the Masterclass episodes. There I said it.

I know we’ve all been asking if we could learn more from the show for years and I think the idea was good – I just found the episodes really boring and basic and I felt that I was being ripped off by one show a week. I gave it 4 or 5 weeks but did eventually stop tuning in for it.

I think if it does come back they should just have a 5 minute ‘health tip’ at the end of each episodes rather than a full on 1 hour or longer show once per week.

Let me stalk you!

Well one thing is for sure, there’s no way this years The Biggest Loser Australia contestants had the time to hit the weight loss pills between leaving campus and finale as has been rumoured in previous years. Word is there was only 2 weeks between them going home and the finale being filmed – no wonder most of them looked exactly the same as the last time we saw them!

I’ve been trying to add lots of them on Facebook but moreso than in any other year this lot aren’t really playing ball – a lot aren’t accepting friend requests from randoms and several are putting us on a limited view list. Boo.

Of course this is their right – but stalking them after the show is over is therapeutic. My favourite hamster this year, Pheobe, isn’t accepting friend requests, my second favourite Shannon has accepted me but I can only see his basic info and either my third favourite Lisa isn’t on there or she’s so well hidden from us randoms it just looks like she isn’t.

Boo..

And she’s done it…

Australia officially has it’s first female biggest loser – I never would have picked Lisa as the winner back at the start of the season, in fact I seem to remember thinking that she’d likely be an early boot. But she did it, she beat off the 3 boys with her in the final to take the crown – and she absolutely deserved it.

Great lady :)

I really enjoyed the finale this year even though I didn’t enjoy the series as a whole nearly as much as normal. It was nice to see some old faces trotting out to show us how well they are all doing – but I am ‘friends’ with a lot of these guys on Facebook and let me tell you the selections were very, well selective. A lot have gained weight back – more than they had to start with in several cases!

I was also shocked that three of the contestants had actually gained weight since leaving Camp Biggest Loser and finale night – doesn’t bode well does it?

The Biggest Loser Australia

Ah watching The Biggest Loser Australia makes me want to rush out and buy diet pills so that I can lose 60kgs in 3 months as well – I want to go on that walk they do when they ‘put the weight back on’ by making them carry what they lost each week.

Having said that I am really not as in to The Biggest Loser Australia this year, I think that missing first 2 weeks really had a huge affect on how attached I feel to the contestants.

Dancing with the Stars

Another season already? Really, it doesn’t seem like five minutes ago I had to endure that brat Kelly Osbourne – they sure like to spit ‘em out fast in the States don’t they? We’re on season 10 already and in the UK we started years before they did and we’re only on around season 6.

At least there doesn’t seem to be any one on it I hate this year so it will be totally watchable, though it seems a bit predictable that Nicole will win – scoring 10s on the very first episode is just silly, and then being awarded a 9 by Bruno even though they broke the rules – twice – sillyness.

Four Weddings is back!!

Ooooh my favourite trashy show is back and I didn’t even realise it!

Four weddings, the show where 4 brides attend each others big days and then make bitchy comments about everything from the dress to the food behind each other’s backs and rate them really low in order to try make sure they win it themselves ;)

I had not seen Ivy in anything else even though she is apparently an RTV slaaag and has appeared on many other things along with her husband. She came across OK on the show so was quite pleased she won, her and the rich Doctor lady were the nicest two which was not what I was expecting on first impressions.

The blond was awful at the end, not that she was really pleasant throughout – but her reaction was totally aggressive and over the top and then after having a go at Ivy for not dancing she’s shouting and balling at her that ‘I attended your damn wedding!!’

Who’d stay at the wedding of a practical stranger after being spoken to like that and made to feel unwelcome?

The irony being I think she probably would have won if it wasn’t for that, the scores were low and close so those 2′s for Ivy almost certainly killed her chances!
