I’ve spent the last few days catching up on the Christmas TV – I hardly had the telly on at all over Christmas and Boxing Day so had lots, given how tired out I have been the last few days I am glad that I saved it all up, it’s been nice lounging around in my new jimjams

There didn’t seem to be that much great stuff on this year though – the soaps were depressing as usual. Does Eastenders really need another “whodoneit” storyline? Gavin and Stacey wasn’t even a Christmas special. I didn’t enjoy The Royal Family. I was glad that Ali won the Strictly Come Dancing special but again didn’t really enjoy watching it. The Doctor Who special was OK but reminded me why I only really watch it cos it’s on and not because I am obsessed about it like a lot of people seem to be – it wasn’t a patch on that one with the scary water people!

I suppose with the shock of Ali and Zoe being in the bottom two tonight I am supposed to be outraged and demanding a recount? But frankly, I couldn’t care less.

I am finding this series really dull and I am not sure why as it does have all the usual elements that make me love the show and it has some good characters.

But I think the combination of a lack of Arlene and it all being smushed together in one night rather than spread out over two have just made me lose interest.

I don’t like Sonya from Eastenders, can’t warm to her at all. I am glad Craig made it to Blackpool, and yes that’s 99% because I think he’s hot.

Other than that I have no real opinions on any one or anything.

I don’t wish to be a show off, but…I saw Darren being Heather’s baby daddy ages ego – why? Because soaps are so predictable.

In fairness I had not thought of him until after the what’s on TV article I read which listed the possible suspects, but as soon as he was in the mix I thought it was pretty obvious.

Heather had called him a businessman and he’s the only one (sans Phil, maybe?) who could be classed that way as he runs the car lot and does auto insurance quotes. But if that wasn’t clue enough he proposed to Libby and she said yes…every thing was going so well for him and he was waxing lyrical about how lucky and happy he was…in soap land that only ever means one thing and that’s that things are about to go very, very wrong!

There’s the advert that comes on telly during the day time, featuring Johnny Allen from Eastenders — and it’s the most annoying advert ever. It’s for some New York accident lawyers or something but what bothers me about it is that Johnny Allen (I don’t know his real name!) says:

“Injury, that’s when you get in an accident and it’s not your fault”

Errmm…no Johnny, that is not ‘Injury’ at all.

“Injury: any physical damage to the body caused by violence or accident or fracture etc.”

Who’s fault it was is neither here nor there. I don’t know why it bothers me so much, but it really does.

Have you ever had a clairvoyant reading before? I have never really been tempted by it but have been offered a free one so am considering it.

I remember my best friends mum used to go and have one done every few months and as my friend got older she started getting them also. I got invited along many times but was a bit scared of it I think.

I was watching an episode of Eastenders a few weeks ago when Mo Harris was giving them for £5, totally untrained and just another rip off from her of course, but it led to some funny moments on the show.

That’s what made me start thinking about it again and I mentioned it to a couple of people and that’s when one of them said they knew someone who’d do one for me for free (they are trying to get their business off the ground).

I really think I should take up the offer, it’s a pretty sweet opportunity to get something I want for free and my friend has said she’ll go with me.

So yes, I think I have decided I am going to go for it. I will let you know how I get on.

Watching Eastenders last night made me want to set up a book club and I instantly jumped on my computer to search for a place to Buy Cheap Books Online — then I actually thought about it and realised that I don’t know if any of my friends are remotely interested in reading so it wouldn’t be much of a bookclub if it consisted of just one person, aka me.

Oh well, I found some nice sites with a great collection of books to choose from at great prices so it was not a complete disaster.

Now, I just need to find the time to actually read them!

Here’s a question that has long since bothered me — why does no one in Eastenders have a washing machine in their own home?

They all rely on Dot and Heather in the launderette with their machines and pressure washers.

I know that Walford isn’t meant to be a rich area, but come on, every one has a washing machine at home in this day and age.

Neighbours made me chuckle today, Zeke managed to knock out Ringo, because he had a martial arts tutor for all of about 2 weeks that he was away from home.

What has happened to Zeke any way, ridiculous ‘he learned how to fight in 2 weeks’ storyline aside, he’s been a total douche since he returned and is suddenly apparently super attractive to the opposite sex.

That’s one thing I hate about soaps, the way they completely change people’s characters over night with no real explanation. It’s the same with Peggy from Eastenders, from doting mother to murderess in five minutes flat!

I wouldn’t mind finding myself a martial arts tutor you know, now that I am really not getting any where weight loss wise with cardio I have been thinking about taking up something like yoga or pilates, but a martial art may suit me more!

Oooh how exciting, a new venture for me

That was really not a classic big Eastenders storyline. I am usually a blubbering mess at the TV these days but that evoked no emotion at all. Ronnie is so unlikable it’s hard to care about her and I don’t feel we got to know Daneille/Amy enough to really feel her death.

As for Archie, yeah the guy was a douche…nasty piece of work and seriously fucked up, but he wasn’t that bad.

The big reveal was lame, cos there really wasn’t that much to reveal.

The story was unbelievable because Ronnie had hated her dad for all the things he had done her entire life, but conveniently forgave him in about 5 minutes for no apparent reason.

The only thing I came away with from the episode was that I hope Janine goes to jail for running Danielle over and that I will probably be pissed off when in true soap style she just gets away with it and it’s forgotten within a few weeks!

Boo Eastenders, try harder!
