I feel as though I have been throttled…

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.

…oh, that’s because I have.

My lovely Internet provider has started traffic shaping at peak times, they started a week ago and so far peak times = 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Yeah, that’s real useful to me. Don’t they know I have movies and TV shows I need to watch, I can’t stream anything at these speeds! I have been doing speed tests throughout the week and at certain points over the weekend my speeds were slower than when I was on dial up – dial up! Remember that?

OndemandI wish I could get Charter Digital where I am – with their service you can get On Demand, absolutely free. That’s free TV and movies when-the-heck-ever you feel like watching it.

You can learn more at charter.net/ondemand and if you are interested you can get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page.

Over the last few years I have switched more and more to on demand services and watching shows on my computer to the point that if I no longer had a TV I really don’t think I would miss it all that much. Until of course my Internet provider start messing around with my speeds – the irony being I pay for a premium service from them and they have chosen us to test out this new traffic shaping on, rather than the regular users.

Hrumph.

I was just looking at Satellite TV Providers because I think it’s time for us to switch again – why is it so hard to find a decent Satellite TV service these days? It should be getting easier, not harder!

We came across Kaptain Satellite and they seem pretty decent, really good prices and decent services offered – but I need to do a little research first and read some independant reviews. This is always super important, a company can offer you the world but it doesn’t mean they will deliver.

Can’t wait to move though, the one we are with now really isn’t worth the money we are paying.

Been reading Dish network reviews

dish-networkI’ve decided that I need more TV channels, yes you heard me, I need more. Apparently watching most reality shows from the UK, America, Australia, New Zealand and Canada isn’t enough to quench my thirst for sitting in front of the big box. I might sign up to Dish Network next, there are some Dish Network specials running at the moment and I have heard positive things about them :)

Quality Luggage This Time

I am headed away in a few weeks to spend some time with my husband to be’s family, always lovely to spend time with them — but I also miss my telly while I am gone. I can still watch my UK shows, but can’t get a hold of the numerous other ones from around the world I watch — American, Canadian, New Zealand and Australian to name but a few.

I need to get new luggage before I go, I got my last case on the cheap thinking I had got myself a killer bargain but I would have been better off spending on some quality designer luggage as it has pretty much fallen to pieces within about four uses, oh dear.

So looks like I am headed to the luggage store on Monday with my credit card ready for action :)

A lazy day with my telly

casino-250The other half and I had the mother of all lazy days yesterday, we woke up late and lolled around in bed watching trash TV for a few hours, we then popped into town and to the Supermarket to do a little shopping and then it was back home for more lolling — played a little DS, played a little Wii and watched an awful lot of television.

We were up really late, since we had gotten up so late and not expended much energy all day so we found ourselves watching live roulette on TV at Ridiculous O’clock, I said I would love to play live roulette and might sign up in a few days when I have some spare pennies, usually he’d give me a look that means ‘No, dear’ at this point but he just shrugged his shoulders at me — so I have taken that as a big fat yes ;)

It must suck for Americans who like a gamble because they aren’t allowed to gamble online, thankfully there are some ways around it and you can play live roulette USA if you know where to look and what to look for.

It was a good day overall, it’s nice to have a lazy day in front of the television now and then, right? :)

In bed with my telly

Sorry for not blogging for a few days, I was suffering with a cold all last week so didn’t feel much like being online at all…never mind blogging.

I spent the week in bed with some TV, it was a great week to be sick TV wise at least — what with so many American shows coming back on air — Survivor, The Amazing Race, Prison Break, Smallville, Heroes…the list goes on. I also managed to get through some films I have been meaning to watch for ages — Juno, Sweeny Todd, Hellboy and Superbad!

Indeed, there are worse times to get ill…I am almost sorry I am better :)

And the award for ‘No longer remotely funny’ goes to…

When did Family Guy become so dismal? It certainly wasn’t recently, but it was only watching tonight’s that I realised just how crap it really has become.

I remember when the humour was clever, genuinely controversial and interesting. Now it’s just repetitive, trying too hard to be controversial and very base. Shame.

You know what the bigger shame is though? I’ll probably continue to watch it, it’s one of my televisual flaws…once I start watching a show I tend to stick with it. Even when I don’t like it any more.

What’s wrong with me?

Survivor Gabon – Mid Season

Well, I had planned to post after each episode of Survivor Gabon, the fact I have not is a good indication of how I feel about the season.

It’s not bad, don’t get me wrong, I don’t think any season of Survivor could ever be bad — it’s just not going to be one of the classics.

Firstly it’s boring when one tribe dominates so much. It’s only now I feel like I know anything about most of the Kota members…but at the same time I do want Fang to fail, they’ve been pretty much the dumbest tribe in Survivor history, making dumb move after dumb move — they don’t deserve rewards and immunity so I am glad they aren’t getting them — but it makes for boring viewing.

Secondly, too much tribe switching up. Twice now they have done it, and that’s before the merge. Survivor isn’t meant to be a game of luck, it’s a game of skill and as boring and predictable and frustrating as it might be seeing someone dominate, if they do it they do it. Switching tribes so much just screws peoples games, sends people home before their time, makes weaker people able to stay.

Oh well, hopefully it will pick up post merge, it’s certainly done that before (last season any one?)

Too much dancing…

…I am having celebrity dancing overkill at the moment.

I watch both the original UK version, Strictly Come Dancing, as well as the USA version, Dancing with the Stars and for the first time both are airing at the same time — firstly I don’t even understand how Len and Bruno are doing it, flying back and forth between the UK and America every week until Christmas is surely going to take it’s toll sooner or later?

It’s too much for me though, really. I don’t even like dancing all that much, I just watch the show because I like reality tv, I like the hosts and judges and I like to see celebrities do things that are outside of their comfort zones.

The dancing I can take or leave. I know, strange right?

Here’s the dealio at the moment:

Saturday: UK version dancing
Sunday: UK version results
Monday: American version dancing
Tuesday: American version results

I think I am going to have to drop one this year, and hope that next year they are back to being on at differing times!
