TV Catchup!

I’ve had a busy old week this week so have not had time to wax lyrical about my favourite shows – though of course I have still found time to watch them.

So Danny won The Biggest Loser, I thought Rudy had it in the bag so good on him – interestingly though according to his BMI he’s still in the overweight category (just) – in fact all of them except for Tracey and Rebecca are!

Ally was voted out of Strictly Come Dancing which makes me sad, I have not been that into this series but I thought she was lovely and for a few weeks at least she’s been the only one still in it that has kept me watching. I really don’t see the appeal of Chris – I find Ricky dull but at least understand he can dance well, Chris is dull and dances poorly – their popularity confuses me. I probably wont watch the final.

SHAYNE WARD - 1 ALBUM - BREATHLESSJoe won The X Factor, very predictable. I fear he’s going to be another Leon/Steve/Shayne – notice a pattern there? All guys who sing mainly ballads. There’s no doubt Joe can sing and is a nice guy but there’s nothing special or interesting or unique about him – I suspect he’ll have a couple of big hits, a semi decent first album and then we’ll never hear from him again!

Surely his time has come?

Llloyd that is, surely tonight is his time to go.

LLoyd-Daniel-sings-Bleeding-LoveThe kids is yet to sing a song in tune (Bleeding Love literally made my ears bleed in pain) and has the personality of a sloth – I can’t help but be amused that he gets through week after week because teenage girls fancy him and no one bats an eyelid – but the country went into meltdown each time Jedward survived. In terms of singing talent I think Lloyd and Jedward were of the same level, aka crap.

The ironic thing being I remember Cheryl not puting through the hot American dude because he’d “get by on his looks alone”, yet she’s forever cooing over gorgeous little Lloyd and playing up to the tween vote to win him votes.

Annoyingly he probably will survive again, his fans will know he’s in danger and vote en masse whereas those who think their fave is safe as houses (Stacey? Joe?) will not vote as much and we may see one of them slip through the cracks.

Short Break – Bargain!

Happy days, oh happy days.

I just booked a short break to Liverpool for December, Christmas shopping here I come. The best part, it cost £1 – yes £1! Free parking, free wifi access and a 10 minute walk from the town center.

10056_previewOf course I would prefer to stay in some gorgeous vacation rental homes in exotic locations like Fiji or Jamaica – but there’s a slight difference in price, £1 and a 20 mile drive up the motorway to Liverpool vs £100s on accomodation and flights to Jamaica.

Bit of a no brainer really isn’t it?

Now I just have to hope I didn’t book for an important TV date, knowing me and my luck it’s probably the weekend of The X Factor finale!

Note to self…

…Saturday night are for staying in and watching The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing, not going out to firework displays.

no_tvI missed both shows on Saturday night because I was out of the house, being all social and stuff. Then when I came to watch the X Factor on Sunday afternoon I realised it had not recorded and I couldn’t watch it on ITV Player as my Internet was running like a bag of crap all weekend. So I had to download it and it took several hours meaning I could not catch up before the results and thus – I found out who was eliminated around 3 minutes after it aired even though I was really trying to avoid spoilers.

Honestly with Facebook and Twitter and the fact it’s the most popular show on UK TV I was never going to be able to avoid it.

Sad to hear that my two favourites were the bottom two. I wonder if Lucie messed up, as I thought she was quite well liked.

I can’t wait to watch it now though and will be sure to blog again after I have seen it :)

X Factor Week 3

Big Band week…snore…always my least favourite of the themed weeks.

And it ending in quite a surprising result for the first time this series, I don’t think any one would have predicted it would be Miss Frank and Danyl in the bottom two. Not that I am personally bothered that either of them were there – Danyl didn’t deserve to be but maybe it will knock Simon Cowell down a peg or two. Simon has always been an arrogant ass, it’s part of his charm – but he really seems to have upped it a gear this year to the point of it being obnoxious. Over praising his own acts and being overly critical of the others (Louis showed him up last night when he asked him to qualify his criticism of Lucie’s performance which was awesome…and he spluttered and flapped around like a buffoon!).

Miss-FrankMiss Frank were by no means my favourites, I don’t think that shoving a crap rap into every song makes them nearly as original as they and the judges seemed to want to have us believe – but again there were others who should have been in the bottom two ahead of them.

Of the two I am please Miss Frank left, if only for the reason than ‘the one in the middle’ looked like a right miserable cow as soon as it was announced and she seemed to be in a major strop throughout the performance.

Moment of the night – when Dermot thanked Buble for not being a weirdo in the interview, after the disasters that were Robbie and then Whitney last week he was only saying what we were all thinking, heh.

Jedward live to fight another day :)

Jedward Love!

The-X-Factors-John-and-Ed-001OK I don’t care what any one says, I love John and Edward from The X Factor! Everyone is stamping their feet and demanding they must leave as they cannot sing and it’s meant to be a talent contest, but actually it’s meant to be an entertainment show and I personally would rather be entertained by their bad performances than be bored by some of the more accomplished but ‘no special’ ones. If I wanted to be bored I would go to an Oklahoma City attorney meeting, not watch The X Factor.

Jedward fan, and proud of it!

X Factor week 2

x-factorWow, last week I was really impressed and didn’t want anyone to go home – this week I couldn’t care less who goes.

I can’t believe I am about to say this, but my favourite act of the night was John and Edward, purely for the “What are they doing?” factor.

Loved Lucie as well and Stacey sings like an angel and is gorgeous but her personality really grinds my gears – other than that I thought they were all average at best and atrocious at worst.

What was Cheryl thinking giving Lloyd ‘Bleeding Love’, it had disaster written all over it. I thought Miss Frank were dire. Hated Rachel and Danyl’s performances and I hardly even remember the rest!

What a disapointment this week was, I hope that next week will be better.

Kandy Rain – Shoulda kept your clothes on!

Itttt’sssss baaaaaacck.

Now that’s the drama filled X Factor I know and love. I really was not feeling it throughout the auditions this year, but it’s only taken one weekend of live shows to remind me why it’s king.

Cheryl’s being a bitch rather than the soppy saint we usually always see. Simon being his usual arrogant ‘I don’t know their names’ self. Dannii making and being forced to apologise for insensitive comments. Louis not even being there. Alexandra miming (and messing it up) and the return of Robbie Williams blatantly as high as a kite.

Firstly, it’s awful news about Stephen Gately and I understand Louis not being there. I hope to see him back next week.

article-0-06C93360000005DC-625_468x317Secondly Robbie Williams was my absolute favourite in Take That and was my idol for many years, but his comeback performance was not too great — he didn’t sing very well and seemed awkward, but I was really disappointed when it became apparent while talking to Dermot that he was off his head on something :(

Alexandra mimed, she messed it up on a few occasions and it was very obvious. She’s a talented girl and has proven she can do it live so why they’d have her on to mime is beyond me.

Dannii’s comments to Danyl were misconstrued and blown totally out of proportion. It was a ‘joke’ that went down like a lead balloon and should have been left when it was clear no one was laughing. But she meant no harm — her point was simply that he’d outed himself in press so why did he bother to change the lyrics of the song to make out he was straight. Simples.

article-1219613-06C93E04000005DC-119_468x286As for Kandy Rain — as the title says, they should have kept their clothes on. I had no idea they were former strippers until it was mentioned on the show as I don’t really follow the tabloids. I had already decided I didn’t like them because as far as I could tell from the auditions they didn’t sing very well. Cue a load of moaning that the stripping was in their past and they now just wanted to be given chance and judged on their music I though…OK I will give them a chance, but given they can’t sing I can’t see me changing my mind.

Well knock me down with a feather they actually sang pretty well on Saturday night, they came across as likable and I enjoyed the performance — but they came out dressed like slappers — so what was all that about them wanting to be judged on the music? Going for the cheap titillation vote by wearing nothing more than your knickers doesn’t exactly back that up.

If only they’d come out a little more covered up, I think they’d have won enough people over to at least survive the deadlock!

All in all, great opening shows — long may it live!

Custom tees on The X Factor

x-factorI was watching the xfactor tonight and wondering why so many of the friends and family of the contestants had custom t-shirts with their loved ones name on, fair enough if they really think that they will get through but a lot of them were awful and it just struck me as a huge waste of money.

Then I looked it up and actually it’s not that expensive, you can get them done pretty cheap at 123print.com so I revised my opinion and decided it’s actually a pretty nice way to support someone and worth every penny. I know I would appreciate it if I were ever auditioning for such a show :)
