Are you ‘avin a laugh?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of SeeSaw. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am going to hit up the Comedy Section on SeeSaw at the weekend – it’s been a while since I really got into any comedy shows.

I like the panel type shows like QI, Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You but there hasn’t been a good sitcom for what seems like ages.

Screen_shot_2010-06-15_at_8Though I believe The Inbetweeners returns soon and I cannot wait for that, I rewatched the first two series a few weeks ago and I never, ever, ever rewatch shows!

In order to watch TV shows from around the world like I do I know of and use many sites online – I watch more shows on my computer than I do on my TV by far, especially now that I can’t get BBC channels any more (I don’t know why, I’ve had a man in the loft trying to fix it and every thing :( ) and rely heavily on iPlayer.

SeeSaw is great because you can watch 100s of programs for free and can rent premium shows from the UK and US. Plus it’s all legal and high quality. I also enjoy the facebook and twitter integration so I can quickly and easily share what I am watching with my friends.

TV Things

How many of you have ever had your head shoved down the Kohler toilets at school? I ask because this has never happened to me or any one I know, yet in American movies and TV shows it seems to be a pretty common practice – does it really happen or is it just one of those ‘tv things’ that doesn’t actually mean any thing?

I feel as though I have been throttled…

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Charter. All opinions are 100% mine.

…oh, that’s because I have.

My lovely Internet provider has started traffic shaping at peak times, they started a week ago and so far peak times = 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Yeah, that’s real useful to me. Don’t they know I have movies and TV shows I need to watch, I can’t stream anything at these speeds! I have been doing speed tests throughout the week and at certain points over the weekend my speeds were slower than when I was on dial up – dial up! Remember that?

OndemandI wish I could get Charter Digital where I am – with their service you can get On Demand, absolutely free. That’s free TV and movies when-the-heck-ever you feel like watching it.

You can learn more at charter.net/ondemand and if you are interested you can get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page.

Over the last few years I have switched more and more to on demand services and watching shows on my computer to the point that if I no longer had a TV I really don’t think I would miss it all that much. Until of course my Internet provider start messing around with my speeds – the irony being I pay for a premium service from them and they have chosen us to test out this new traffic shaping on, rather than the regular users.

Hrumph.

Ancient TV

bigstockphoto_old_tv_set_161433Would you believe that despite all the TV I watch I don’t have a massive big plasma TV, nope no plasma mounts needed for me – I still have my ancient old 17 inch beast of a thing, and I am quite happy with it. I don’t know if it’s my eyes or my brain, but I really can’t tell much difference between mine and my fiances HDTV that he always bangs on about being the best thing since sliced bread!

I love my old TV and I am sticking with it :)

TV Time

old-tv-set-thumb206925-751667You know they say that moving house is the second most stressful thing, after divorce I think it is? Well is it strange that I actually enjoy moving house?

Of course it has it’s hassles, it’s a lot to organise and don’t even get me started on what a pain it can be dealing with certain companies along the way.

A few years ago when we moved we were without internet access for almost two months thanks to a series of screw ups from our new provider.

At least setting up our new Directv has always been pretty straight forward, the Internet I can just about survive without – but I would wither and die without my Direct TV – fact!

I love unpacking every thing and deciding where it’s going to go and decorating etc, I would move once per year if it wasn’t so expensive!

We are pretty settled where we are now though so unless something major changes I won’t be searching for Direct TV in Florida any time soon.

Been reading Dish network reviews

dish-networkI’ve decided that I need more TV channels, yes you heard me, I need more. Apparently watching most reality shows from the UK, America, Australia, New Zealand and Canada isn’t enough to quench my thirst for sitting in front of the big box. I might sign up to Dish Network next, there are some Dish Network specials running at the moment and I have heard positive things about them :)

Oh Typical!

…of course on the first night in weeks that there was actually loads of shows on last night, my Internet died on me so I was unable to watch any thing.

lostNow I am all behind. Two episodes of Scrubs, two hours of American Idol and two hours of The Biggest Loser and two hours of Lost that I just don’t know when I will get the chance to get caught up on.

Grr.

I am not sure that I will watch American Idol this season any way though, I tend not to like it once it gets passed the auditions stage — time will tell.

In bed with my telly

Sorry for not blogging for a few days, I was suffering with a cold all last week so didn’t feel much like being online at all…never mind blogging.

I spent the week in bed with some TV, it was a great week to be sick TV wise at least — what with so many American shows coming back on air — Survivor, The Amazing Race, Prison Break, Smallville, Heroes…the list goes on. I also managed to get through some films I have been meaning to watch for ages — Juno, Sweeny Todd, Hellboy and Superbad!

Indeed, there are worse times to get ill…I am almost sorry I am better :)

And the award for ‘No longer remotely funny’ goes to…

When did Family Guy become so dismal? It certainly wasn’t recently, but it was only watching tonight’s that I realised just how crap it really has become.

I remember when the humour was clever, genuinely controversial and interesting. Now it’s just repetitive, trying too hard to be controversial and very base. Shame.

You know what the bigger shame is though? I’ll probably continue to watch it, it’s one of my televisual flaws…once I start watching a show I tend to stick with it. Even when I don’t like it any more.

What’s wrong with me?
